SplitEase
UX/UI Design
USER INSIGHT
Splitting a bill with friends can quickly become uncomfortable from awkward reminders and uneven contributions to relying on external apps that fragment the process.
Whether it's dinner with friends, a taxi ride, or shared groceries, users want a frictionless and polite way to handle group payments, without needing to download yet another app or calculate who owes what.
The insight: "Shared payments should feel effortless, fair, and built-in."
CONCEPT
SplitEase is a proposed feature within Apple Pay that allows users to split any payment directly after checkout, no third-party apps, no math, no awkwardness.
The flow is simple:
Pay with Apple Pay
Tap “Split”
Choose contacts
Send payment requests
Track responses in real time
The system makes bill-splitting feel natural, integrated, and transparent, reducing tension and saving time for everyone involved.
DESIGN
The interface was designed to feel like a native Apple experience: minimal, intuitive, and elegant.
Users can access the Split feature immediately after a payment confirmation. The UI displays the full amount, suggested splits, and allows quick selection of contacts via iMessage integration.
A dynamic progress tracker shows who has paid and who hasn’t, using simple, color-coded feedback. The design relies on Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines to ensure clarity, hierarchy, and accessibility.
Everything is one tap away, Share. Pay. Done.
