USER INSIGHT
Air travel can often feel long, passive, and disconnected, especially during long-haul flights. Passengers struggle with boredom, discomfort, and a sense of lost time. Traditional in-flight entertainment focuses on passive content, but rarely addresses how people feel during the flight.
Additionally, most systems offer limited interaction and few options to connect meaningfully with fellow passengers or personalize the onboard journey. There was a need to make flying less about waiting and more about experiencing.
CONCEPT
This project explores how time perception can be redesigned through onboard experience. The system combines entertainment, information, and interaction into a unified interface that turns hours in the air into a personal and social journey.
The platform includes multiple zones:
Watch, Listen, Play: for immersive entertainment
Chat, Write & Read: for human connection
Journey, Dine, Shop for comfort, convenience, and awareness
Passengers can explore, create, and connect with full control over how they spend their time. From discovering stories left behind by past seat occupants to chatting with someone flying to the same city, the system allows each person to make the flight their own.
DESIGN
The interface is designed to feel warm, modern, and easy to navigate. Each module is visually distinct yet part of a cohesive system. A calm color palette, clear typography, and tactile iconography create a sense of comfort and exploration.
Modules like Journey provide live data, destination maps, and camera views. Others, like Dine, offer personalized wake-up options for meals.
Social tools like Chat and Write & Read add emotional depth and transform anonymous passengers into storytellers, players, or guides.
The result is a multi-layered experience, not just to pass the time, but to transform it.
